Description of contents
raumlaborberlin, a collective of nine architects based in Berlin and operating worldwide, presents its first monograph in Japan. It features projects themed around “water,” selected from the collective’s wide-ranging activities. It also features documentation from a workshop held in Tokyo ahead of the exhibition at the TOTO GALLERY・MA scheduled for September 2026. This book encapsulates their research-backed, free-spirited ideas and practices that explore “how everyone uses a space” through bottom-up approaches and dialogue.
Profile
raumlaborberlin
raumlabor is a collective of nine members who share a background in architecture. As architects, artists, performers, inventors and curators, they have tapped into different spaces of action. The group developed in 1999 from a common interest in an expanded understanding of architecture, which has since been established as Urban Practice. raumlabor’ working method is situational and actionoriented, with a focus on the collaborative production of space as an open and unbiased process.
